| My Granddad Piper during WWI |
My Granddad Piper served in Europe during WWI. Great Aunt Marie Snyder remembered playing in the greenhouses at Elitch's Gardens. Great-Great Uncle Adrian (b.1876) fell to his death from the top of a roller coaster in 1911.
I love these stories, they are like anchors that moor us to our ancestors and they tell us about our place in history. Families everywhere have their own stories, and they always seem to surface at every holiday party and family reunion. When our family gets together we always seem to discuss and debate these stories, and when we do it always seems to bring back these loved ones if for only a few moments. We remember them, cherish them, for a while we feel their presence and acknowledge their influence on our lives.
I have decided to create this blog to share some of the stories I have heard from my family and to let you know what I find as I journey though our shared past. If you are interested feel free to share stories and memories of your own, and maybe together we can create records for future generations. Please send your stories to: ourfamilyskeletons@yahoo.com or d.s.r.mariposa@gmail.com
